On September 9, The Whale will welcome the winners of the competition for content design – the team from Ralph Appelbaum Associates in Berlin and TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE. This visit provides the design team with a unique opportunity to get to know Andøy and its people.
Camilla Ilmoni, responsible for marketing and anchoring, has put together a diverse program for the guests.
"We plan to make the most of their time here and showcase as much of beautiful Andøy as possible," says Ilmoni.
The program includes meetings with local tourism operators, municipal representatives, and business stakeholders, as well as a visit to the whale center and a sea excursion to experience the whales.
The design team is eager to hear the thoughts, expectations, and feedback from the local community.
"It’s wonderful that so many people are showing up to meet them and contribute to making their stay a memorable one," says Ilmoni. "We really appreciate it!"
10-Year anniversary
August marks ten years of planning for The Whale, and this milestone will be celebrated with an evening event in Fyrvika on September 10. The event is open to everyone.
The design team will also attend the event, and a film made for the occasion by Svein Terje K. Eliassen and Svein Spjelkavik from God Strek will be shown, says Ilmoni.
In addition, guests will get a first-time virtual tour of The Whale, based on a film created by the architects at Dorte Mandrup.
"We also have some surprises in store," smiles Ilmoni.
Looking forward
Exhibition Leader Hanne Strager and Camilla Ilmoni are excited to introduce this special delegation to Andøy and to mark ten years of The Whale.
"We've had a long journey to get here, and it’s nice to look back, but we are really excited about everything that lies ahead," says Strager.
Ilmoni adds, "We hope many will come to Fyrvika to be part of this important milestone for Andøy and The Whale."
