In September, HENT was chosen as the contractor for The Whale’s construction, and the project is now underway. This week, representatives from The Whale, HENT, Norconsult, Dorte Mandrup Architects, and experience designers from Ralph Appelbaum Associates gathered on Wednesday and Thursday to initiate collaboration. This interactive phase brings all stakeholders together to closely coordinate the project’s development.
The meeting marked productive days of getting to know one another, reviewing the plans for the coming months, and conducting an on-site inspection.
True to tradition for important meetings at The Whale, the gathering began with a cultural touch. This time, young musician Linus Johnsen contributed with song and joik. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the whale skeleton room at Whale Safari and Andenes Lighthouse.
Progress and timeline
“The plan is to begin work on the site in May 2025, complete construction by March 1, 2027, and officially open on June 3, 2027. We look forward to a strong collaboration with all parties involved,” says Roger Pettersen, Project Manager for Construction at The Whale AS.
