Ralph Appelbaum Associates Berlin (RAA) has secured the contract to design the content for The Whale in Andenes after a competitive selection process involving several international exhibition designers. RAA is the world’s largest supplier of exhibitions for museums and public spaces, with offices in New York, London, Beijing, and Berlin. Their impressive portfolio includes designs for the British Crown Jewels at the Tower of London, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, and the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro.
“We’ve experienced strong interest and tremendous enthusiasm for the entire project. The combination of Dorte Mandrup’s outstanding architecture, the unique location at the edge of the sea, and The Whale’s strong focus on ocean and wildlife conservation made this a project that felt both unique and relevant to the design firms,” says Hanne Strager, Head of Content at The Whale.
Among the most recognized
“With the selection of the team RAA has gathered in Berlin, we are working with one of the largest design firms in the world for the development of content and experiences in The Whale. It is one of the most respected firms in the industry, with a team that can create aesthetically beautiful interiors and impressive digital presentations,” says Strager.
RAA’s team
“RAA’s creative team is based in Berlin, with team leaders who have often worked together on large, high-profile projects. The two creative leads are Tim Ventimiglia from RAA and Marc Tamschick, creative director and founder of Tamschick Media + Space (TMS). Together, these companies will bring an innovative approach to both the visual and auditory experiences of the project,” Strager adds.
In addition, Belzner-Holmes Light Design, a global leader in lighting design with extensive experience, including work on the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, will contribute. AV specialist Dieter Plew, founder and CEO of Medienprojekt p2, will also be part of the project team, says Strager.
Honored
“Ralph Appelbaum Associates and Tamschick Media + Space are honored by the trust The Whale has placed in us by inviting us to be part of their team. We look forward to contributing to the realization of an outstanding and unique vision. Our contribution will be to design a unique visitor experience aimed at creating an empathetic connection between people and whales. This experience will engage visitors intellectually, physically, and emotionally. Our design process will involve the local community, artistic expressions, sustainable strategies, scientific knowledge, and multisensory exploration and learning,” says Tim Ventimiglia, Director at RAA Berlin.
